Dads Connect Events For Autumn/Winter 2012

Are you a dad who wants to have a great time with your kids? If so our Dads Connect project runs a series of monthly events for dads who love to do stuff with their kids. Check out the details of our Autumn/Winter programme below which includes fishing for mackerel, making pumpkin lanterns, telling spooky stories, making Christmas lanterns (and setting them on fire), a wild winter’s day out in the woods and a Fathers’ Christmas Fair.

Saturday 29th September: Once I Caught A Fish Alive at Brighton Marina

Have you ever caught a fish with your kids? Brighton Marina’s the perfect place to start. Dads and kids can learn and share their fishing knowledge and show us how it’s done. Then we’ll chuck some freshly caught Mackerel on the BBQ for a spot of tasty lunch. There will be some fishing rods available and please feel free to bring along your own equipment.

Sunday 28th October: Spooky Stories and Perfect Pumpkins at Jubilee Library

Why not get ready for Halloween carve a pumpkin with you kids? You can bring your favourite spooky story to life to scare and excite, learn how to make a pumpkin cake, and bob for an apple or two. Come along with your kids and get ready for a night of trick or treat. Pumpkins and apples will be provided.

Saturday 1st December : The Fathers’ Christmas Fair

OMG its nearly Christmas! Dads everywhere will be wondering how they’ll afford it this year. The Fathers’ Christmas Fair will remind you that the best things in life are free. Come and back some Christmas cookies, make an advent calendar with the kids and meet with other dads to work out your Christmas survival strategy. This is the best way for dads to get in the festive spirit for free and give the kids their first Christmas present – you!

December 13th, 16th, 21st: Build A Christmas Lantern – And Set It On Fire!

Do you want be part of the Burning Of The Clocks parade on Friday 21st December? It’s a spectacular fire and fireworks show which includes a lively  lantern parade through the streets of Brighton. We’ll be giving dads and kids the chance to come and make your lanterns together, enjoy a Christmas snack and sing some Christmas Songs with us.  Then join us for the parade to mark the shortest day of the year by setting our lanterns on fire together.

Sunday 27th January: Wild Winter In The Woods

To remind ourselves of the grand and wild out doors and to forge our way in the new year we’ll be keeping warm by the fire, tracking animals and playing games. Hot drinks and warm toast will keep our spirits alive and welcome our spirt to step forth into the opportunitites of a new year. In partnership with Rob Fallon at Wildnature.
