1.00 – 2.00: Activists’ Soapbox

SECOND NATIONAL CONFERENCE FOR MEN AND BOYS (FRIDAY 2ND NOVEMBER 2012)

1pm– 2pm: Activists’ Soapbox

During lunch we like to give a range of activists from the men and boys’ sector an opportunity to get on their soapbox and speak out on an issue that they are passionate about.

1.05pm: Stop The Chop

Campaigners from NORM UK, Genital Autonomy and Men Do Complain explain why they are passionately committed to ending unnecessary male circumcision in the UK.

1.25pm: Michael James Parker

Michael Parker is a poet, performer, teacher, husband, father, son, mountainman and mentor who leads explorations into the big wide world of wild things. Here he performs a poem inspired by the men and young men of abandofbrothers.

1.30pm: James HawesJames Hawes is a psychotherapist and counsellor who runs a social enterprise called Men@work and blogs about male emotional fitness at oneminuteman.co.uk. Here he speaks about the importance of helping men and boys them build emotional muscle in order to prevent trauma, physical and mental harm.

1.35pm: Young Dads TV

Over the past 12 months YoungDads.tv has been supported a group of motivated young dads to create a Council of Young Dads. Here a group of young dads share their experience of supporting other young fathers in their area through outreach and partnership development both in the ‘real world’ and the digital world of YoungDads.tv
