The workshops are organized by Rodney Browne from Bevendean who ran 4 workshops in 2011 whilst taking part in a leadership training program run by The Men’s Network, because he is committed to giving something back to his local community (read about last year’s Community Leaders Program here)
The afternoon workshops will be held once a month from January to April and will use meditation, discussion and laughter to help participants to explore spiritual themes like communication; the changing face of men and masculinity and spirituality .
All four workshops will take place at the Cornerstone Community Centre, Church Road, Hove, BN3 2FL – click here for a map – and run monthly on Saturdays from 2pm to 4.30pm. The workshops are FREE with light refreshments provided and contributions are welcome to help keep these monthly workshops running.
Details of workshop:
January 14th: The Changing Face of Men
Historically, men have been leaders, creators and workers and the definition of their role has been clear. Nowadays the roles of men are often not so clearly defined or even non-existent. In this creative workshop, we will be looking at the traditional roles of men throughout time in order to form a spiritual face for the future.
February 18th: Masculinity and Spirituality
What is masculine, feminine and spiritual energy and how do they differ and combine?. Is it possible to have a balance of all 3?. This afternoon, we will explore these 3 energies in the stillness of meditation and through the movement of dance and the sound of our voices.
March 17th: Communication
Communication can enable us to share practical information or the contents of our hearts. We communicate through words, vibrations and body language, but can this be improved?. What are the messages that really need sharing in today’s world?. Come and experience and explore communication using the physical, mental and spiritual planes.
April 21st: The Secrets of Adam
Who was or who is Adam?. Was he a reality or a metaphor for each individual human being?. Is the present time significant in understanding and unlocking the secrets of his rise and fall?. We will have a talk by an experienced student and meditator from the Brahma Kumaris followed by a workshop to explore the secrets of the self, God and time.
The workshops are being supported by the Brighton branch of The Brahma Kumaris World Spiritual University, an international learning community which has 825,000 regular students and a centre in Brighton. The Brahma Kumaris encourage individuals to live by their highest values, vision and purpose and believes that a personal commitment to self-transformation can help create peace and a better world for all.
