The Men’s Network Takes A Lead On Supporting Fathers

The Men’s Network is to launch a new Fatherhood Taskforce to explore how we can give every dad in our city the support he needs to be a great dad at every stage of fatherhood.

The project will start with a meeting the existing Supporting Fathers Network, run by the local council, next week.

If you want to be part of a team of local professionals committed to supporting fathers this year then we’d love you to join us for a meeting on Monday 28th February to explore how The Supporting Fathers Network and The Men’s Network can work together.

With the new Coalition Government committing to promote shared parenting from the earliest stages of pregnancy in its new Equalities Strategy – and at the same time overseeing severe cuts in public spending – there are both opportunities and challenges ahead for everyone who is working to support fathers in our city.

This meeting provides us with an opportunity to consider how we can work together more effectively in 2011/2012 and put together a calendar of new and existing events that will enable us to:

  • Optimize the potential of the work we are already doing
  • Develop our networks to enable us to share good practice and support each other’s work where appropriate
  • Work together to create mutually beneficial opportunities to work together to improve male health
  • Identify and act on potential funding opportunities to help us support fathers in Brighton & Hove

The first meeting of this new Supporting Fathers initiative will take place on Monday 28th February 11am to 1pm in Central Brighton.
